Our Journey

For over 25 years, I have been around garments.

I have watched fabrics being chosen, patterns being cut, embroidery slowly come to life, and a garment change completely once it is worn by the right woman. Over the years, I have also learnt something simple - a beautiful garment is not just about how it looks. It is about how thoughtfully it is made, how it feels when you wear it, and whether it feels like it was made with you in mind.

That is where KishoriJu began.

We are inspired by the India we know and love - its fabrics, its colours, its embroidery, its crafts and, most importantly, the people and hands behind them. We bring these traditions into silhouettes that feel relevant to the woman of today, without taking away what makes them distinctly Indian.

India has never needed to look elsewhere for inspiration.

Our textiles, embroideries and crafts have been evolving for generations. A piece of hand embroidery can take days. A particular fabric can carry the knowledge of generations. The hands that make these things often know much more than any label can tell you.

Having spent 25 years working with garments, I have developed a deep respect for this process.

At KishoriJu, we work with natural and traditional Indian textiles such as mulmul, khadi, linen and chanderi, along with different forms of Indian embroidery and craft.

But we don't want to simply reproduce the past.

We want to understand it, respect it and find a way for it to live in the wardrobes of women today.

We have never felt that a woman should be reduced to a number or a letter on a label.

So at KishoriJu, even our size names are inspired by feminine qualities and identities rather than the usual S, M, L or XL.

Because clothes should adapt to women - not the other way around.

Every woman has her own shape, her own personality and her own way of carrying a garment.

We want KishoriJu to celebrate that.
